CTC WELCOME TO OUR NEW CHAPLAIN GRAHAM DANN

We welcome to the family of Cameron Toll Chaplaincy our newest chaplain

GRAHAM DANN

Graham was born in Musselburgh, but has lived most of his life in Edinburgh with spells in Falkirk & Ipswich.

He came to faith while in Ipswich and has been involved in most aspects of church life together with his wife Lorraine for some years now.

Graham took early retirement at age 52, two years ago, after 31 years in the pensions business. Currently a member of one of our supporting churches, Priestfield Parish Church.

If you enjoy playing table tennis you're in good company ... our Graham plays most Thursday afternoons!

As well as being our newest Chaplain he is also a volunteer chaplain to two local Edinburgh Royal Mail Delivery Offices - Old Dalkeith Road & Strathearn Road - and still does some voluntary work for Christians Against Poverty (CAP). He also has previous experience with Bruntsfield Food Bank and Bethany Christian Trust - care van and job club.

His photo will follow... but we look forward to working with you Graham :)

NEW BEGINNINGS

TUESDAY 15th JULY 2014

NEW BEGINNINGS FOR
CAMERON TOLL CHAPLAINCY & WORK PLACE CHAPLAINCY SCOTLAND

This article has come hot off the Work Place Chaplaincy Scotland's(WPCS) press so to speak:-

We are looking forward to our new partnership with Newington Churches Together (NCT) and South East Edinburgh Churches Acting Together (SEECAT) through the auspices of Cameron Toll Chaplaincy Steering Group.

WPCS Central Scotland Regional Organiser Paul Wilson and Rosemary Dewar, our media and fundraising co-ordinator, were privileged to be part of a special ceremony celebrating the new arrangement in Cameron Toll shopping centre’s management suite.

Welcoming them, Steering Group Chair, Janet Sidaway, spoke warmly of the new development and paid tribute to the work of the Steering Group and chaplains since the service was established at Cameron Toll, 12 years ago. She then presented current chaplains, Danielle Milne and Reuben Addis, with certificates recognising their commitment to the work there.

Responding, Paul Wilson congratulated the Steering Group, whose members – Lou Ogilvy, Joan McGregor and Kate Selby – were also present, on  their work setting up and sustaining chaplaincy at the centre. He said WPCS was delighted to have the opportunity to develop the Cameron Toll Chaplaincy work and gave a brief outline of other organisations for which the charity also provides trained staff and volunteer chaplains.

The group were then taken on a short tour of the centre and were introduced to three of the staff who help ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible. (Pictures on our Facebook page).

And finally, as a new chapter in the history of chaplaincy at Cameron Toll begins and with the Steering Group’s permission, we thought we’d share this definition of chaplaincy featured on the Cameron Toll Chaplaincy website. We think it embodies chaplaincy for all of us!

COMMISSIONING SERVICE

Our Commissioning Service was held on Sunday 28th April in Craigmillar Park church.

We had a lovely service which was attended by 59 people which included for the 1st time in a long time 2 members of the CT Management team, Jim Riddell the manager & Grant, his deputy. It was so nice of them to take time out of their weekend to join in this special service.

Reuben & Danielle invited friends & family to come, & along with leaders & people from our supporting churches we had a lovely time.

God has been with us through this past 10 years & is doing great things within the CTC :0)

Thank you to all who took part in this service. We would also like to thank all who regularly pray for the work of our Chaplains within the centre.

Photos to follow!

2013 EASTER EGG CAMPAIGN FINAL UPDATE - THANK YOU ALL

THANK YOU ALL FOR BEING EGGSTRA GENEROUS!!

Nearly 200 chocolate Easter eggs were donated to our Easter Egg appeal,
smashing last year’s total of 98!

In total kindhearted shoppers donate 188 eggs – plus a soft toy lamb.
(photo shows L-R Bert Kidd Salvation Army, Joan McGregor CTC,
a member of the CT security & Steve Wright Basics Bank)

All the eggs donated to this years campaign has been distributed to local children via the Edinburgh City Mission’s ‘Basics Bank’ and The Salvation Army.

This means nearly 200 Edinburgh children, who would otherwise not receive a chocolate egg, will be given a sweet treat to enjoy this special Easter Sunday
(Yum! Yum! Steve & Bert among the 188 eggs!)

Jim Riddell, Centre Manager, Cameron Toll Shopping Centre said: “Our shoppers have proved once again that they are extremely generous and we’d like to say a big thank you to all of them for their donations. This is the third year we have run the appeal and we are over the moon with this year’s total.”

So on behalf of all the children who otherwise wouldn't have had an Easter egg to remind them of this special time of the year a HUGE big THANK YOU!!!
